Yangon International University (YIU) was registered in August 2018. The aim is to establish a premium private university in Myanmar and to participate in Myanmar social and economic development by capacity building. The university will train both students and executives who can contribute significantly to the nation economy and growth. Yangon International University (YIU), in collaboration with international organizations, is launching a series of Digital Economy Initiative Conferences and Trainings in order to support Myanmar’s Digital Economy Initiatives. The very first event of the series will focus on Digital Transformation. Yangon International University (YIU) is aiming to become a partner University of enterprises and government for digital transformation process to get a truly initiative learning experiences.

U Thaung TinVice President Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI)

Mr. Thaung Tin is the founder and the chairman of Knowledge Management and Dedication (KMD) Co. Ltd which is one of the largest ICT companies in Myanmar offering ICT education, product distribution and system integration services. He is also serving as the Vice President of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).

Mr Thaung Tin served as the deputy minister for Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Myanmar from August 2012 to March 2016.

During his tenure with the government, he was instrumental in initiation and implementation of Myanmar telecom reform plan that includes liberalization of telecom market, transformation of incumbent telecom operator and setting up the independent regulatory organization. The telecom liberalization process made mobile SIM penetration from less than 10% in 2012 to over 80% in 2016

He also actively involved in several social and professional organizations; lecturer at University of Computer Studies (1984-1990), Secretary of Myanmar Computer Federation (2000-2012), Vice President of Union of Myanmar Chambers of Commerce and Industry (2005-2012 and present), and Country representative for Asean Business Advisory Council (2005-2012).

Currently he is servicing as a country representative for Asean Business Advisory Council, East Asia Business Currently, and a member of Myanmar Engineering Council. He is the private sector representative at e-government steering committee and a member of Digital Economy Development Committee.

He holds a Master degree in Computer Science from University of Computer Studies, Yangon and Bachelor degree in Electronic & Communication Engineering from Rangoon Institute of Technology. He is an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education program.

Dr Tun Thura Thet is a member of Digital Economy Development Committee (DEDC), SME Development Working Committee, Research and Development e-Government Subcommittee of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; vice president of Myanmar Computer Federation (MCF), the federation of computer Industry, Professionals and Enthusiasts associations; and chair of the Myanmar Software Industry Development Committee (SIDC).

He is also the founder and CEO of Myanmar Information Technology Pte Ltd, the leading
software development and System Integration Company in Myanmar. MIT was founded in 1997 and has been the market leader for ICT services in banking sector, retail sector, hospitality sector, healthcare sector and in digital innovation. MIT is the ASEAN Business Award winner for e-ASEAN sector in 2015 and ASOCIO 2018 Outstanding ICT Company Award. Dr. Passakon PrathombutrSenior Executive Vice President/ Digital Technology and Innovation Development Executive Director of Digital Innovation Center Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), Thailand

Dr. Passakon Prathombutr graduated the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Software architecture and Computer networking from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He was in the team that connected the first Internet leased line to the country in 1991 when he was a student in Chulalongkorn university. After graduated he served as a researcher at National Electronics and Computer Technology Center or NECTEC. When he became the director of Next Generation Internet Laboratory in NECTEC, he founded the Thai IPv6 association and while he served as the director of Intelligent Transport System program, he founded the Thai ITS association. In 2010, he moved to National Science and Technology Development Agency or NSTDA to serve as the director of the Service & Data Innovation program. Besides, he was the co-founder of Thai Intelligent Traffic Information Center Foundation (iTIC) and the CCTV Consortium. At present, he is the senior executive vice president of Digital Economy Promotion Agency or depa, to drive mega projects including the smart city project and the IoT institute. For international position, he is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Intelligent Transportation System Research, Springer.

Ashok has over 35 years of ICT experience in application design, development and implementation, business process reengineering, architecting business solutions, outsourcing and large scale programme management. His prime focus has been in Government, Financial Institutions and Manufacturing industry segments, both as end user and service provider. Prior to joining ISS, he worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS)/ Hewlett Packard (HP) for over 8 years. He was the Regional Programme Director (Asia Pacific & Japan) supporting Network Projects for Bank of America Merrill Lynch account, responsible for service delivery and programme management. In another assignment, his role was Lead Solutions Architect and Director (Business Solutions) for Singapore Government account, responsible for solution development, new business and growth. He is the recipient of Asia Top Talent Award (2008), Individual Contribution Excellence Award (2008) and EDS Inner Circle member (2009) at EDS/HP. He has also worked in Singapore Computer Systems (SCS) as Senior VP (E-Commerce), Singapore Network Services (SNS) as Project Director and National Computer Board (NCB) as Senior Consultant. In Hong Kong and India, he worked for organizations that offered software design, development and deployment services. As a committee member, he has contributed to National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) and to Singapore Government’s Service Wide Technical Architecture (SWTA).

With over 30 years in consulting, research, advisory and operations, Debashis helps private and public sector leaders create world class, integrated and sustainable processes that deliver positive outcome through streamlined business and digitalization, by empowering them with the knowledge of industry best practices and global standards that improve stakeholder value through service innovation. Debashis’ core areas of expertise include business process re-engineering, performance management and digital transformation. He has also assisted organizations leverage information technology to enhance business and operational efficiency. Debashis spent 13 years in consulting, project management and business process re-engineering. Over a span of 11 years in research and advisory role, Debashis developed process maturity models, roadmaps, benchmarks, in-depth analysis of business processes, best practices, priorities and deployment strategies in key sectors, which also included smart cities and sustainable energy. He analyzed global and regional trends to identify emerging agenda and opportunities for service providers. Prior to joining NUS-ISS, Debashis was a Research Director at Gartner and IDC Asia/Pacific, and a Senior Manager at Singapore Computer Systems. Debashis graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Technology (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering. He also holds a Master of Business Management from the same university.
